BGT Champions Make Ginetta Move
2007 British GT Championship-winning outfit Team RPM will expand into GT4 racing with three Ginetta G50 GT4-specification cars.
The 300bhp Yorkshire-built cars will run in the British GT Championship in the new-for 2008 GT4 class. A driver line-up has yet to be confirmed and but discussions are ongoing between the Team and a number of pairings. However, RPM’s Ginetta Project Manager Alex Mortimer is welcoming interested parties to get in touch.

could look in 2008 |
“The GT4 category is a fantastic feeder into GT racing at a lower budget for people who want to progress and look into the future” said Mortimer. “The Ginetta is the best value GT4 car out there – which is defining for it – but it’s clearly very competitive too.
Alex and his co-driver Bradley Ellis took the British GT Championship crown at the nail-biting final round of the Championship at Rockingham with their Team RPM-run Dodge Viper GT3 car. Aside from running the Team, Mortimer will continue to run Viper GT3s in the 2008 British GT and FIA GT Championships. He is not expected to race the Ginetta G50 himself, but will offer support to his GT4 contenders.
“We want to go out next year and win in GT3 and GT4 and we’re going to have a really strong package with the Ginetta and the Viper’s upgrade to do that” added Mortimer. “LNT’s Ginetta outfit and Team RPM are very similar. They are both companies with the enthusiasm and drive to win and be the best, which pays off.”
The Ginetta G50 GT4-specification car is just £45,000 with spares also competitively priced well below its other GT4 counterparts. The well-resourced 80,000 square-foot factory has also been a key ingredient to interested purchasers of the new G50 along with its partnership with 24h Le-Mans GT2 class-winning outfit Team LNT aiding its development.
“We’re obviously delighted that Team RPM have chosen the Ginetta G50 as their choice of car to take on the GT4 title” said Ginetta’s Richard Dean. “The Ginetta name is increasingly being recognised as a company who are serious players in the Sportscar arena which is emphasised today with RPM’s acquisition of three cars.”
The cars will be delivered in time for the season opener at Oulton Park in March and will run on the same bill as the single-make Ginetta G50 Championship comprising of at leased 26 identical cars.
