Ginetta G50 Cup Cars Sold Out!
Ginetta has sold all twenty-six G50 cars that were put out for sale for the start of the new 2008 single-make Championship. As such, a further eight are now planned for delivery during April and May 2008.
The Yorkshire-based sportscar manufacturer stood by its commitment to launch the 300bhp lightweight machine at a price tag of £35,000 + vat for the first run of 26 cars. The price for subsequent G50 Cup cars will increase to £39,000 + vat.
“Whilst we were always on target for a £35k race car, development and supplier costs has forced a price increase to reflect the G50’s true cost to produce” said Richard Dean. “There is a lot of car here for £39k even, but some parts have been upgraded to ensure quality and reliability, hence the increase.”
The release of eight additional cars will take the grid up to 34 cars during the season and the Championship’s capacity for its inaugural year. Four of the eights cars already have deposits on them, leaving just four remaining.
“The response to the G50 has been phenomenal” continued Dean. “The fact we have almost sold out despite the rolling chassis being a prototype and nobody outside of the company has driven a G50 yet proves the Motorsport arena was crying out for a Championship we are happy to be providing.”
Details of those confirmed to be running in the Championship next year will be released soon. Information on teams running in the 2008 G50 Cup can be found on www.GinettaCars.com in the ‘G50’ area.
