Phil Keen out in a G50 at Cadwell Park
GT racer Phil Keen will join the Ginetta G50 grid with Xero Competition at Cadwell Park this weekend – part of Ginetta’s 50th Anniversary Festival.
The 24 year old from Reading (right) will make a one-off appearance for the two Championship races that will take place at the Lincolnshire circuit to sample the might of a G50.
Keen is no stranger to Sportscar racing having competed previously in the TVR Tuscan Challenge – finishing 2nd in the Championship. More recently, he made appearances in a Mosler in British GT and Ascari in FIA and British GT as well as working for Ascari in aiding development of their cars. Keen also drove an LMP1 Pescarolo car for Rollcentre Racing at the beginning of the Le Mans Series season in 2007. However, this will be a first for the talented young racer in a Ginetta.
“I’ve never been to Cadwell before either” comments Keen. “So this will be a new circuit and a new car for me but I’m looking forward to it. I enjoyed driving the Tuscans and they’re a similar sort of car and they were good fun to drive and hear these G50s are too!
From what I’ve heard, Cadwell’s good fun to drive as well – like a mini Nurburgring so it should be a good weekend!”
Keen is this year contesting the Belgian Touring Cars Series (BTCS) with Chad Racing.
• BTCC ace and British GT Dodge Viper racer Paul O’Neill will return to Ginetta G50 racing following on from his podium at Oulton Park two weeks ago. O’Neill – who’s views on the Ginetta G50 car appear in this week’s Motorsport News – enjoyed his experience so much he’s appearing at Cadwell Park in the same car he raced at Oulton Park with the IDL team.
