Ginetta Heritage Race Series’ September Launch

There may be a lot of hype surrounding Ginetta’s new G50 model at the moment, but it’s important to remember all of the other models that exist from the company’s 50 years existence.

A new Ginetta Heritage race series will launch in September 7th at Ginetta’s 50th Anniversary Festival at Mallory Park as an opening for classic Ginetta models to hit the track as originally intended in their heyday. This will be as a precursor to a complete series in 2009.

Any Ginetta model that is no longer in production by Ginetta Cars Ltd will be eligible to race. Therefore, this will exclude the Ginetta G20 (Junior and Senior) and the G50 – but also the G27 because of its similarity to a G20. The G27 will instead be eligible to enter in the Club Ginetta race series.

Ginetta Heritage will comprise initially of four classes:

- 0 – 1100cc (e.g. G4, G15)
- up to 1750 cc (e.g. G4, G21)
- Lotus twin-cam (e.g. G12, G4R)
- Invitation (e.g. G10, G33, G16 + DARE models)

The race format will comprise of a 30-minute practice session, 15-minute qualifying session plus two fifteen-minute races. Entry fees are to be confirmed but are likely to be around £300 + VAT.

In addition to the class winners, awards will also be given for overall presentation and ‘Spirit of the 60s’ which will take into account elements such as attire.
