PlayStation Ginetta Junior Championship
Rounds 11 and 12 - Brands Hatch
The PlayStation Ginetta Junior Championship enters its penultimate weekend racing with a triple-header and the first of two successive visits to the Brands Hatch Indy circuit this weekend 5th/6th October.
Accompanying the final round of the 2007 Dunlop Great & British Festival season, the Ginetta cars will be mixing it up with the usual spectacle of Minis and the Sport Maxx Cup as well as a celebration of the ‘hot hatch’.
For the first 100 hot hatch cars through the gates and their passengers will be given the rare opportunity of driving their car on the circuit in a special parade lap at lunchtime on Sunday.
In addition, during the lunchbreak on Sunday spectators will be given the chance to get closer to the action and stroll around the pit lane to see MINI Challenge and the PlayStation Ginetta Junior cars and meet with some of the Teams and drivers.
Nigel Moore (left) comes to the weekend from a week karting in Australia and a 66-point advantage over Chris Clayton at the head of the Championship table. The double-win last time out at Pembrey strengthened his position and is a possibility again at Brands Hatch. Remarkably, every visit to the podium by the 15-year old, has been to the top step – a total of seven times this year.
Kieran Vernon is sure to be there to keep the pressure on Moore providing he stays out of trouble. First corner incidents at Croft and Pembrey have damaged his points tally. Qualifying at the front and taking two runner-up spots so far, he is also hungry for his first win.
Returning to the grid this weekend will be BRDC Stars of Tomorrow karter Jordan Lennox-Lamb. Jordan has been unable to complete all the Ginetta events this season due to karting commitments, but will return this weekend to build on his experience in Sportscar racing.
A further graduate from the Stars of Tomorrow karting Championship will be welcomed this weekend as Chris Smiley (right) makes the trip across the water from Ireland for his debut sportscar race. Smiley won the drive during a Ginetta event in Ireland back in July where he impressed during an initial test there.
Tickets for the Dunlop Great & British Motorsport Festival at Brands Hatch are £12 on the gate and £10 in advance. Children under 12 can go free!
