Racers Test Ginetta Fun
Several drivers sampled G20 ‘Senior’ and G20 ‘Junior’ cars at Pembrey at the weekend as they evaluated possible drives for 2008.
James Rigby and Michael Broadhurst had already sampled Ginetta racing at Silverstone earlier this month during the first weekend of the 2007 Ginetta G20 Winter Series. Rigby took a 5th and 7th with Speedworks Motorsport, with Broadhurst enjoying a double-podium with third and a win with the same team.
Both were present to sample the 2008-specification car that will be in force for the Championship next year and includes an engine upgrade.
“It’s not too different from the car I raced at Silverstone” said Broadhurst (right). “But it does have more power and picks up quicker in the lower revs. It’ll definitely make the racing even more fun than it already was! I just need to find the budget now.”
25-year old Formula Woman racer Debbie Bennett also sampled the G20 ‘Senior’ car having raced a Caterham this season in the all-female Championship.
“It's not dis-similar to a Caterham but it is unique and I really loved driving it. I'll be putting my name down for the championship next year!” she said.
Saxmax racers Aaron Williamson and Jake Farndon sampled a 2008-specification G20 ‘Junior’ car with upgraded drive train.
The two Junior racers finished 3rd and 4th in Saxmax this year, and are both considering a move into Ginetta Junior racing for 2008.
