Michelin to Supply Ginetta in 2008

Leading tyre supplier Michelin will be the official tyre supplier for all three Ginetta Championships in 2008.

It was announced at the Autosport Racing Car Show that The Texaco Havoline Ginetta Championship, G50 Championship and the G20 Junior Championships will all run on Michelin control tyres, from standard road tyres in the Junior Championship to race slicks in the G50 Cup.

"We have spent a lot of time tyre testing since the close of season" said Ginetta boss Richard Dean. "Michelin is a leader in international motorsport with cutting edge technology and excellent technical support. Ginetta are proud to be an associate of Michelin."

The G20 Junior cars will run on Michelin 195/50 R 15 V Pilot Exalto road tyres in all race weather conditions. Designed for the hot hatch and roadster segment, the Pilot Exalto is a road tyre approved for factory fitment to vehicles such as the VW Golf R32 and the Citroen C2 VTS. Available in 14” to 18” sizes, the Pilot Exalto has a tread rubber compound developed using motorsport technology for optimum grip in the wet.

The G20 Senior cars will use the 205/50 ZR 15 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup road legal track day tyre, the same tyre type as used in the Porsche Club Championship. Designed for sports and extreme performance vehicles, it has motorsport compounds and has proved itself on innumerable track days in the UK, as well as in race use The Pilot Sport Cup was standard fitment on the BMW M3 CSL, and now the Pilot Sport Cup+ has been approved for factory fitment to the latest Porsche GT3, GT3 RS and to the new BMW M3. For inclement weather, the 19/57-15 P2A Michelin Competition wet tyre will be the alternative choice

Benefiting from the experience and technical knowledge that brought Michelin its 10th consecutive victory in the 2007 24 Hours of Le Mans race, Michelin Competition tyres are designed to give consistent performance lap after lap.

The 2008 Ginetta G50 Championship will use 18 inch Michelin Competition tyres; 24/64-18 S8D slicks for dry race conditions and 24/64-18 P2 wets for the rain.

Furthermore, Protyre Motorsport (right) will service each round of the Championships to offer support in the Ginetta paddock.

All of Michelin's range of Ginetta tyres will be available through Ginetta factory stores or Protyre Motorsports via its track side service".

Michelin representatives were also at Autosport Intertantional on Ginetta’s stand answering queries from competitors and potential customers.
