Within the Engine Technology division the Design & Development department undertakes the concept and detail mechanical design work required for new and existing racing engines. 3D design work is performed by a team of engineers working on up to 8 seats of Pro Engineer using the Intralink operating system. Once a design is finalised and signed off, 3D files and 2D drawings or specifications are used to manufacture the parts in our in-house manufacturing centre using the latest Delcam CAM software and multi axis machining centres.
Engine testing, development engine build and track support services are also provided by the research and development department for all racing engine projects. Three engine test cells, equipped with Schenck dynamometers and control / logging systems with capacities up to 16,000 rpm and over 1000 BHP are used to test and develop the engines. Other facilities include valve-gear and pump test rigs, in-cylinder pressure data measurement equipment, an airflow bench and coolant /oil flow measuring equipment to determine heat rejection figures.
Combining the design and development roles and working closely with our manufacturing department, allows us to respond more quickly to the constant development and evolutionary changes that are required to achieve and maintain our products in a highly competitive markets.
