Former British GT Championship-winning team, Barwell Motorsport, is launching a major attack on the Britcar GT championship next year. The Surrey outfit will be challenging for the overall GT title with the Ginetta G50Z-Zytek that it ran to second place in this year's Britcar finale at Brands Hatch.
The Ginetta G50Z-Zytek will be the factory development car that Barwell (which is an Official 'GT Partner Team' of Ginetta Cars) also took to three outright British GT wins in 2009, and then narrowly missed out on its first Britcar win at Brands in a thrilling end of race shoot-out. The car will be developed further over the winter by Barwell and Ginetta Cars, ready to take on the Britcar GT title and Silverstone 24 Hours challenges next season. Barwell would like to speak to any drivers interested in the opportunity to drive this fantastic Zytek-engined machine, which will certainly be one of the pace-setters of 2010.
"The Britcar Championship was one of this year's success-stories in British motorsport, which was underlined by the fact that the Brands GT night race had an incredible 32 cars on the grid from 12 different major makes," comments Barwell MD, Mark Lemmer, "We feel that the time is right for Barwell to contest the whole championship, and the Ginetta G50Z-Zytek is the perfect car to do it with - it's capable of winning the title and is a very cost-effective GT racing car."
Barwell is also planning to contest the Britcar Production Championship, and is in discussions regarding a prospective Class 1 deal as well as eyeing up a full-season campaign with its astounding self-built Class 2 Honda Integra Type R - which completed a hat-trick of annual Brands Britcar class victories this year.
