Sarah Moore will no doubt look back on 2009 as a truly outstanding year - in October she made history by winning the Ginetta Junior Championship and consequently becoming the first female winner on a BTCC package and in November was shortlisted for BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year. On Sunday night, the 16 year old scooped top industry gong, the hotly-contested 'Club Driver of the Year' trophy at the Autosport Awards in London - sharing the stage with icons such as Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton and Damon Hill in the process.

Moore, who hails from Tockwith in North Yorkshire, fought off competition from other racers Tim Bridgman, James Calado, James Cole, Phil Glew and Dean Smith to accept her trophy from eight-time Le Mans winner Tom Kristensen and triple world touring car champion Andy Priaulx. On her momentous victory she commented: "I managed to get loads of practice in this season on track.  I always used to back out of things but I've been taking more and more gambles this year and it's paid off. I'm stunned and speechless but I think this has to be one of the best nights of my life. I've had people such as Damon Hill, Jenson Button and Jason Plato all come over and congratulate me - its just unbelievable! Its back to studying for my mock GSCE's next week but at the moment I'm just going to enjoy it!"

Ginetta Chairman Lawrence Tomlinson who has championed Sarah's talents from the start said: "Seeing Sarah go on stage at the Autosport Awards to collect this award in front of 1400 industry heads has been one of the proudest moments in Ginetta's history. Sarah demonstrates a maturity way beyond her 16 years and this coupled with her raw driving talent means  I have no doubt she will be a household racing name in the very near future. I'd like to personally congratulate her on a historic 2009 and will look forward to seeing what she can do next season in the Ginetta Junior Championship 2010 in her new G40."

Sarah proved her mettle on the mixed-sex Ginetta Junior Championship grid this year, scoring five wins in twenty races and winning the title with 448 points in only her second year of racing. She will defend her title next year with Your Racing Car. YRC Team principal Hannah James said: "Wining gongs is always brilliant but to receive them at an event like the Autosport Awards is something altogether different. Standing up on stage in front of such an illustrious group of motor racing officials, competitors and investors has got to be a terrifying experience and I'm just overwhelmed by the decorum with which Sarah handled everything. She's proving that she's got exactly what it takes to be a super star and I'm really proud that she's representing YourRacingCar.com."
