Ginetta's much-anticipated latest launch; the Ginetta G40, continued its extensive circuit test schedule this week by taking to a wet and windy Snetterton. Factory driver Nigel Moore put the new car production car through its paces covering plenty of continuous laps in tricky conditions.

Moore, who has previously won both the Ginetta Junior Championship and Ginetta G50 Cup, was testing the Junior version of the G40, which will be delivered to its first customers later this month, with the first round of the BTCC-supporting Junior championship commencing in April.

Ginetta Chairman Lawrence Tomlinson commented: "Rigorous testing sessions are an integral part of Ginetta's roll out program for the new G40. Obviously the wet weather conditions at Snetterton provided us with a great opportunity to test the car's suitability for general road and British racing conditions; lights, wipers and all important designed waterproof measures have all proved successful. We have used these sessions to assess its performance in comparison to the 'old' Ginetta Junior car and balanced the performance - the ultimate goal being to put essential miles on the clock. We are absolutely thrilled with the way it has performed, there are no issues to report and the train rolls on so to speak! We'll be carrying out several more testing sessions before the first Ginetta Junior Championship weekend at Easter."

Ginetta technicians are busy producing an initial run of 26 cars for a mixture of returning Junior customers and some exciting new names to add to the driver line up in 2010 which will shake up the existing grid -including karting supremo Seb Morris and British Junior Rally Cross Champion Brad Bailey. The new drivers will be challenging current title holder, 16 year old Yorkshire teenager Sarah Moore.

The new Ginetta G40 features an 1800CC sealed Zetec engine with a weight of 850kg. Like all Ginetta products, the car has been designed to exceed 2010 FIA homologation regulations (the G40 actually achieving a safety cage 50 times stronger than the minimum requirement).  However the multi-platform car will also be eligible for entry into a variety of competitive racing categories which includes the 2010 Ginetta Challenge, in addition to being fully road-legal.
